Switching gears (kinda)

So the golf tournament was an incredible success, as we had hoped and prayed. The funds are all still trickling in and being tallied up, but at this point it's looking like we neted $25,000!!! This total was raised from the golf tournament, silent auction at the event and Ebay auction items that were all donated to the cause. We had 100 golfers and 100 auction items donated from the local community. SO COOL!! Even in this economy it is amazing to see such giving hearts nearly triple from what was given last year. Throughout the sponsorship process I was so encouraged to hear that people simply were aware of the cause I was speaking of. Just last year seemed daunting at times as we were educating more than anything. Which is equally important, but less than a year later we have companies jumping at the opportunnity to help, to join us in this fight to STOP human trafficking!
Our organization, EWOP works on the preventative side of this issue. Funding the education to stop human trafficking before it starts. Then supporting the safe houses these young women and children are placed in and educated once rescued out of brothels and prostitution.
Which brings me to my upcoming trip to Thailand in less than two weeks. On May 22nd, I along with six other impassioned women on the cause will head to Pattiya, Thailand. Our purpose is to see, follow and pray through the trail of human sex slavery from the village to the city. We will meet with those we have supported through our micro-loan project, we will visit and minister in the bars meet with ministry partners of World Concern and visit the hubs and borders where this issue is most prevalent.
Many have asked if the funds we raised from the goft tournament will go towards that we need to raise in support for our trip. Although along the same lines they are two completely different things. 100% of all that was raised during the golf tournament is given to the organization San Jai Network which we work with and have commited to over in Pattiya.
Will you join me in praying for each individual women and their families safety and peace? Almost all have husbands and small children they are leaving behind for a week. Pray that all goes well on the home front, that hearts and minds are comforted. Will you join me in praying for my financial aid? I need an additional $300 to fulfill my trip costs by May 17th. Thank you for joining me on this journey. I am thrilled to see what God has in store. More to come indeed!
