Potty Talk

I was roped into teaching a three year old class at VBC this Summer at OCC. Sure I can handle that. Needless to say I took comatose naps with the boys daily.
The theme the TREK - the story of Joseph. The three year old version - Joseph was the favorite of 12 brothers. Joseph's Dad liked him the best and gave him a cool coat, which made his brothers very jealous. To make things worse Joseph had dreams that his brothers would one day bow down to him. His brothers hated him for that and threw him in a pit, then sold him into slavery. His father was devastated. Joseph worked for a man named Potipher. His wife told lies about Joseph and got him thrown in jail. There Joseph was well liked for his ability to understand dreams. All the dreams came true and Pharoh made Joseph ruler of the land. Joseph's brothers came to him in time of need, although they did not know it was their brother at the time. Even though his brother were so terrible to him, Joseph was quick to help them. Even though they did not deserve it, Joseph still loved them - just as God will never leave us and always loves us.

Each day we would tell another portion of this story to our three year olds. I went back and forth on weather I should use the word Potipher. Well I did and I had a room full of giggling three year olds. Levi wasn't in my class, but I asked him the next morning about what he was learning. This is how our conversation went:

Me: Hey buddy, so what else have you learned about Joseph?
Levi: I already told you Mom...
Me: I know, but did you learn about what Potipher did to Joseph?
Levi: WHAT!? (Almost seething)
Me: You know Potipher?
Levi: MOMMY, WE DON'T TALK LIKE THAT - THAT'S RUDE!
Me: Oh, ok. :)
