We built a snowman with the help of Uncle David & Grandma. Some of my fondest memories are playing in the snow late into the night with Grandma Thomsen as a child. It brings me immense joy that my boys get to experience the same fun and love from my grandparents. My grandma Jakeway would have been so "tickled" :) to watch them grow as well...and now I'm crying...moving on... :)
We spent one day out at the farm, catching up with my Aunt Carolyn & Cousins. Every time I visit with them I leave wishing we could spend more time together.
We played out in the snow & fed the cows. It continued to snow the whole time while we where there, all the while a lot had already accumulated on the ground. The entire 40 acres was covered in a beautiful white blanket. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
Can you imagine waking up to this every morning? Granted it's rarely covered in snow. But when it's not they have a picture perfect, unobstructed view of the mountains. It's amazing.
There were two 'freshies', two week old calves, amongst the cows. Cutest things I've ever seen prancing their way through the snow. Staying close to momma no less.
I thought more than once how easy and simple life was there. Granted we were on vacation so to speak, but I loved and embraced every moment. I loved that the small shop owners didn't bat an eye when I walked in with my two busy (but well behaved) boys. In fact they acknowledged them and provided something to keep them entertained for a few minutes. I loved that for three shorts days the clock slowed down and I enjoyed every minute with my boys. Ironically it only took a couple decades for me to really appreciate my roots.
